Here Are The Coolest Features Of The Latest Samsung Galaxy S8

The wait is over! Samsung Galaxy S8 is here which hopes to be better, cleaner, and sleeker than ever before, without any of the self-bursting qualities of its predecessor! Have a look at the Galaxy S8 and S8+ features!

What’s New?

The most eye-catching feature of the reveal is the new phones’ screens. The S8 and S8+ have glass displays measuring 14.7 cm (5.8 in) and 15.7 cm (6.2 in) respectively with 2960 x 1440 resolution.

The design is almost a full glass one, at the expense of the home button with an on-screen feature to be used for the same purpose. Surprisingly, the company logo is also removed, showing company’s commitment towards focusing on pleasing the customers even the risk of bad PR.

The screens have a high dynamic range (HDR) playback for sharper images, and the total dimensions of the phone have been scaled down to help the users manage the phones with one hand.

Continuing from S7, the back camera remains at 12MP. However, the front camera got boosted to 8MP with better autofocus. The phone also comes with an iris scanner instead of the fingerprint IDs.

Meet Bixby, the Samsung Assistant

Bixby joins the already overcrowded party of Siri, Alexa, and Google Home assistants. The phone assistant is “context-aware,” as claimed by Samsung, meaning it can predict follow-up questions and queries of a user, so we can call it semi-intelligent (if that can be taken as a compliment).

Bixby can also identify objects or landmarks using its location feature. For example, just by taking a picture of a sneaker Bixby can tell you the price and the place where you can purchase the shoes.

More Specs

Samsung S8 comes with an added hardware DeX, which can turn your phone into a desktop. You can read more about it here. The USB-C port, that can be used to connect the monitor, and the 3.5mm headphone jack are located on the bottom of the phone. The power on button are one side and volume buttons on the other, and below you will find a new button dedicated to Bixby.

4 gigabytes of RAM, 64 gigabytes of onboard storage, and an expandable SD card slot, the same basic stuff for this model as well. Samsung did not push their luck this time when it comes to battery capacity, with S8 having a 3,000mAh battery and the S8 Plus having a larger 3,500mAh battery — which is the same as that of Note 7 (fire in the HOLE!). But Samsung claims it has worked on the battery chemistry which will stop them from bursting into flames while will make them last longer than usual after a year or two of use.

Can Samsung Galaxy S8 Buy Back Its Customers?

theverge

Galaxy S8 is Samsung’s desperate attempt to fade away the horrific memories of Note7 and to win back the public trust and market share. The ad by the company showing their additional safety regulations and eight-point safety checks was made to drive the same point.

Now features such as Samsung DeX and Bixbay, the high-quality camera and the super cool screen means it will attract people who are suckers for a high specs phones. Compare this with the latest iPhones, and Apple users will certainly be left in a conundrum about their future phone choice.

In the US, the S8 and S8 Plus will be available in black, gray, and silver. Gold and blue will be offered internationally. Pre-orders are starting on March 30th, and you will also get a free Oculus headset with a controller and a few PS4 games with your preorder! Pretty sweet deal!

The phones are scheduled to hit the markets on April 21, and the price point is estimated around  £690 (roughly $850 USD) for the S8 and £780 (roughly $970 USD) for the S8+.

But it doesn’t replace the note 7 cause its not a NOTE phone.. It doesn’t have a stylus or the NOTE features and Apps.. So I won’t be buying one… I’ll stick with my NOTE 5..
