Guy Makes A Cool Coffee Table Out Of His Wrecked Car Engine

The saddest day for a petrol-head is when his beloved car has to be trashed for good.

It could be due to a horrible accident, or maybe due to new regulations rendering your trusted old muscle car “illegal” to be driven around. Or maybe it has finally given up and even your out of this world repairing knowledge and skills can’t bring it back to life. Whatever it is, giving your love away is always a traumatic experience.

Graaypes ruined his Bugeye WRX to the core, but still kept it to sell the good parts for his next purchase.

The engine was in wrecks and non-functional, but he and his dad still cut off plastic and metal surrounding it to redeem something.

They cut the bumper off using a welding torch, and finally were able to pull the engine out.

Still attempting to rebuild the engine, they began to check for internal damage.

But soon enough they realized that it was a goner. So instead of dumping it, they decided to turn it into a coffee table and began scrubbing it with dish soap.

Graaaypes and his father drilled dowel holes into the parts where they would attach everything for the table.

And the piston rods were decided to be used as cool table legs.

To ensure that the rods could be used like that, they did a mock-up of how the legs would stand on the support pads.

Then the lower intake and valve covers were painted with cherry red.

The parts were then baked in a repurposed smoker, and then sanded all of the disassembled parts.

After smoothing out the surfaces by sanding, he primed the rest of the pieces by coating them with aluminium engine block paint.

When everything was smooth, he primed the rest of the pieces and coated them with aluminum engine block paint. Pretty snazzy!

The combination of aluminium and red color gave it a presentable look

The belt and support for the glass top were then added to give it a final look

An appropriate size of glass tabletop was all that remained to be added

Weather strippings were added to the mount to keep the glass in place.

To keep the glass secure, he added door weather stripping to the mount.

And voila! After all that hard work, the final product really is something to be proud of.
