Elon Musk’s New Starlink Performance Antenna Brings 400 Mb/s Internet To The Most Remote Locations Of The Globe

SpaceX has introduced a powerful new addition to its Starlink satellite internet lineup: the Performance antenna, a significant upgrade aimed at professional and enterprise users in remote or demanding environments. With download speeds exceeding 400 Mb/s, this new model surpasses the typical 250–300 Mb/s range offered by standard Starlink equipment.

The Performance antenna resembles earlier Starlink models but comes with a key difference: its noticeably larger surface area. This design enhancement enables improved signal capture and data throughput, making it especially useful for industries like maritime operations, off-grid infrastructure management, or scientific research stations in isolated locations. The antenna’s increased capacity helps ensure that even in the world’s most extreme corners, users can access high-speed, low-latency internet.

In terms of networking setup, the new antenna diverges from previous Starlink iterations by excluding a built-in Wi-Fi router. Instead, users must connect it to a Starlink router or a third-party router using an Ethernet cable. While this adds flexibility for customized networking solutions, it also introduces a slightly more complex installation process something likely geared toward users with more advanced technical needs.

The power system is similarly versatile. The external power unit can draw from a standard 100–240V AC outlet or a 12–56V DC supply, catering to both conventional setups and off-grid applications. For added convenience, the power unit can be mounted in a rack, offering streamlined integration into professional or industrial installations.

Durability is another standout feature. Constructed from aluminum, the Performance antenna is engineered to thrive in the harshest conditions. With an IP69 rating, it is highly resistant to both dust and water ingress, making it ideal for environments ranging from Arctic tundras to scorching deserts. Its operational temperature range of -40 to 60°C ensures that the antenna can perform reliably regardless of climate extremes.

Although pricing has not been confirmed, the new antenna is expected to fall in line with the company’s High Performance model, currently available at a promotional rate of €1,191 (down from €2,390).
