While taking to Twitter, Musk notified his followers with a piece of exciting news that he will be introducing “Steam integration” into the collection of in-car games. He tweeted, “The company is making progress with “Steam integration” and we can expect a demo probably next month.” So, it is apparent that the company is going to test this model of the game in the coming month. Moreover, there are a lot more other built-in car games that are offered by Tesla, including Cuphead, Sonic the Hedgehog 1, etc.
Promises are well kept within the bounds of possibility, and Musk hasn’t fulfilled the pledge to put “Cyberpunk 2077” and “The Witcher” into the newer models of Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X vehicles. However, if the “Steam integration” successfully proceeds through its testing phase, then it’s a green signal for the above-mentioned games to be integrated into the newer models of Tesla. Moreover, in February, Musk tweeted, “Tesla is working through the general case of making Steam games work on a Tesla vs. specific title.”
Coupled with this, Tesla has sparked a heated debate with the highway authorities when it allowed its drivers to play these games while driving. This has caused safety concerns throughout, because at first, Tesla discouraged this act and only allowed the drivers to play when the car is in a parking position. But this recent conflict that emerged last year has made Tesla reverse this decision as it might pose a safety threat, not only to the drivers but also to the vehicles around them. Hence, after receiving a severe response from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla backed off.
Owing to this decision, Tesla has now restricted its users to only using this gaming feature when the car is parked. With this, we can expect a smooth onboarding of the “Steam Integration” on Tesla cars, but it cannot be stated with facts that Tesla allows its users to “make purchases on Steam while sitting in their cars”. Once this system is integrated into the car’s entertainment system, then it would further intensify the progress of Tesla and might become the reason for boosting its sales as well.
