Elon Musk has announced he will fully return to his tech companies, X, Tesla, and SpaceX, after spending months involved in politics. “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” Musk posted on X over the weekend, following widespread platform outages. He pointed out that being “super focused” is necessary as his companies introduce new technologies like xAI and prepare for the launch of Starship.
Musk’s comments are similar to those he made during a recent Tesla earnings call, when he said he would cut back on his involvement in government matters. “I plan to keep spending a few days each week on government matters, but from next month, I’ll be focusing more on Tesla,” Musk said. His time in government caused many problems, including major changes in the workforce and attacks on agencies such as the CFPB and USAID.

Since January, Musk has played a key role in the Trump White House, which has made him more divisive. He spent millions through his super PAC on a GOP-backed campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and many believe he will stay involved as the 2026 midterms draw near. At the Qatar Economic Forum, Musk said he will be giving less money to political causes in the future.
Musk said he does not have a reason for political spending at the moment, but he did not rule out future action.
Musk’s actions in government caused Tesla’s share price to drop. After Musk said he would concentrate on his main companies, investors’ confidence returned quickly. With innovations looming across X, Tesla, and SpaceX, Musk’s renewed attention could mark a critical turning point for the billionaire’s business empire.
