SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk, recently made an announcement indicating his readiness to prepare for a potential mixed martial arts cage fight with fellow billionaire media mogul Mark Zuckerberg.
Musk took to Twitter, expressing his willingness to engage in a cage match with Zuckerberg, who is the CEO of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, and has trained in jiu-jitsu.
”I haven’t started training yet. So if this does happen, I will,” Musk said in a talk on Twitter with Ashlee Vance, the author of a book on Musk and the space race.
This challenge emerged following Meta’s announcement of its plans to create a text-based social media platform to rival Twitter. While attending a birthday party in Europe, Musk mentioned that the match could take place, acknowledging the possibility of it going poorly if Zuckerberg were to take it seriously.
Musk has been engaging in provocative banter with Zuckerberg on Twitter, teasing him with his remarks. According to a report from The Verge, during an internal company meeting, Meta’s Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, expressed the belief that creators desire a “properly managed” version of Twitter, which received enthusiastic responses from employees.
It is worth noting that the 39-year-old Zuckerberg recently achieved victory in his first amateur Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament. Conversely, the 51-year-old Musk holds an advantage over Zuckerberg in terms of physical size, and reports suggest he has experienced “real hard-core street fights” during his upbringing in South Africa.
This social media exchange has sparked numerous discussions online, with Twitter users suggesting they could assist Musk in training for the potential cage fight.
Additionally, Musk mentioned that SpaceX’s investments in the Starship rocket, which faced a failed debut flight resulting in an explosion over the Gulf of Mexico in April, may reach approximately $3 billion this year. The incident has raised concerns regarding environmental impacts.
