Elon Musk Has Become The Richest Person On Earth — Again

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has passed Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest person again, with a net worth of $201.7 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The Tesla founder rose to the top of the list last week as the stock price of the EV firm has soared. With a net worth of $193.6 billion, Jeff Bezos has fallen to second place.

On Wednesday, Tesla’s market value has soared, topping $700 billion (£516 billion), according to Forbes. This value outperforms Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, General Motors, and Ford combined.

Musk and Bezos are both extremely wealthy individuals. Even though the majority of their money isn’t in a bank ready to be spent, however, their fortune — roughly half a trillion dollars in total — offers them tremendous influence and power.

However, this is far from the first time that someone has surpassed the $200 billion mark. Both Bezos and Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault did so in August 2020 and last month, respectively.

Earlier this year, Musk temporarily held the top spot on Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index before slipping behind again.

To exacerbate the rivalry, SpaceX and Bezos’ Blue Origin have been locking horns, with Bezos suing NASA for awarding the Moon landing contract to SpaceX. Moreover, Amazon has filed a lawsuit against SpaceX, alleging that Musk’s company is violating FCC rules.

With the given competition between the billionaires, the rankings will only shift more as time goes on.
