Elon Musk Explains How To Pronounce His Child’s Name X Æ A-12

Recently, Elon Musk and his girlfriend Claire ‘Grimes’ Boucher announced that they had been blessed with an incredible baby boy. The couple decided to name it X Æ A-12. As expected, people on social media were baffled and everybody kept on trying to figure out how to pronounce. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is known for his bizarreness but this one is really a mind baffling one.

Elon Musk went on the Joe Rogan show after announcing the name and as expected; the list of first things that Joe Regan asked included the name’s pronunciation. Rogan asked, ‘How do you say the name?’

Elon Musk laughed and then explained that the name’s uniqueness came from Grimes. However, he went on to brief us all about its pronunciation. He said, ‘It’s just X, the letter X and then the Æ is pronounced Ash and A 12 is my contribution.’ He also told Joe Regan that A 12 was meant for ‘Archangel-12, the precursor to the SR-71, coolest plane ever.’ There you go everyone, you’re welcome!

The naming of the baby was not a big reveal since Grimes had already tweeted this earlier. We are happy for the couple and equally excited about the X Æ A-12 name. However, there is a very real possibility that California’s Office of Vital Records might not accept X Æ A-12 as a valid name. That is because of something that David Glass – a family law attorney – explained. He said, ‘In California, you can only use the ’26 characters’ of the English language in your baby name.’ We might be getting a new name instead of X Æ A-12 if that is the case. The little X Æ A-12 has also been referred to as X by Elon Musk’s mother – that just might stick and become his nickname, right?
