Dubai Is Set To Host The World’s First Jet Suit Race

The Dubai Sports Council, headed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has made a ground-breaking announcement regarding the schedule for the Dubai Jet Suit Race, which will be the first-ever jet suit racing competition in history.

Eight elite competitors, including Ahmed Al Shehhi of the United Arab Emirates, will display their skills in an exhilarating aerial spectacle set against the iconic background of Dubai, signifying the city-state’s ability to organize international events. The gravity-defying jet suits will take the place of traditional aircraft in a high-stakes race between Dubai Harbor and Skydive Dubai on February 28, 2024, during the esteemed Dubai Boat Show.

The partnership with Richard Browning’s Gravity Industries, a trailblazing force in jet-suit technology, highlights Dubai’s dedication to pushing the edge of human accomplishment. Aerial sports enthusiasts were treated to a preview of the future of the sport when jet-suit pilots took to the skies over the Dubai Fountain during a live demonstration held at Burj Park next to the Burj Khalifa.

Highlighting the innovative, adventurous, and ambitious character of Dubai, His Highness The event, in the opinion of Dubai Sports Council Chairman Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marks a turning point in the history of aerial sports. In order to be ready for this historic race, Ahmed Al Shehhi, the racer from the United Arab Emirates who is competing for the XDubai team, is presently receiving specialist training in Britain.

The race, organized with the support of key entities such as RTA, Dubai Police, SKYDIVE Dubai, and X DUBAI, promises to captivate spectators with specially designed jet suits prioritizing safety features. The competition’s unique setting between Dubai Harbor and Skydive Dubai, with its stunning waterfront and iconic landmarks, reinforces Dubai’s standing as the ideal venue for such an extraordinary event.

Samer Al-Shammari, Race Director, expressed the commitment to delivering an electrifying competition, complete with challenges demanding precision and speed, to draw more enthusiasts to this exhilarating sport. With the Gravity Race Series envisioned as a 21st-century airborne spectacle, the Dubai Jet Suit Race is poised to redefine the excitement and drama of motorsports, marking Dubai as a trailblazer in the world of aerial competitions.
