China’s First Humanoid Base In Shanghai Aims To Train 1,000 Robots By 2027

China opened its first place to train different types of humanoid robots in Shanghai. The National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center and Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) Co. in Shanghai run this training center. It aims to help develop robotics better and make it available for more uses.

The training center can teach 100 humanoid robots at once, and they hope to grow to 1,000 robots of all types by 2027. The training ground matches China’s main goals: to lead in artificial intelligence and robotics while solving global tech conflicts and helping older citizens.

Working with Zhiyuan Robotics and Kupas Technology Co., the project will gather 10 million high-quality physical robot data by 2025, creating a leading-edge dataset that combines different types of robots. AgiBot made history last December by creating the biggest dataset for humanoid manipulation.

China’s humanoid robot industry is growing quickly thanks to helpful government rules and new robot-making technologies. The market for humanoid robots in China will grow from 2.76 billion yuan ($379 million) in 2024 to 16.7 billion yuan in 2025 and reach 86.1 billion yuan by 2030. Local governments are passing new rules to help robotics grow, build better infrastructure, and attract more investment.

China will kick off the first World Humanoid Robot Sports Games in April by having “Tiangong,” an all-electric humanoid robot, run a marathon. Zhejiang Province expects to make 20,000 robots every year by 2027, which will help China stay on top in the worldwide robotics market.
