Burglar Discovers You Can “Peel” Cybertruck and Access the Inside

In a breach of Tesla’s Cybertruck, a car burglar managed to break into the vehicle by slightly prying open one of its windows and then forcefully peeling it down. This is particularly alarming given the Cybertruck’s reputation for having tank-like durability and shatter-resistant glass.

Anuj Thakker, the owner of the compromised Cybertruck, shared his frustration on Facebook, writing, “No Alarm, No Notifications to my phone… literally nothing happened just found it like this…”

His post included footage from the Cybertruck’s camera, which captured the entire incident. The video shows a hooded individual emerging from a red sedan parked next to the Cybertruck. After inspecting the vehicle, the burglar retrieved a tool from their car and proceeded to pop the driver-side window ajar. Although the glass shattered, it remained in place, likely due to the adhesive layer that holds Tesla’s laminated glass together.

The burglar then peeled down the window and reached inside to steal an unattended backpack before fleeing in the red sedan. For Thakker, this incident has been a harsh reality check, as he may have relied heavily on the Cybertruck’s security features, which include an advanced alarm system and shatter-resistant glass designed to withstand significant impacts.

However, those familiar with the Cybertruck’s history may not be entirely surprised by this failure. When Tesla CEO Elon Musk first introduced the Cybertruck in 2019, a live demonstration intended to showcase the strength of its glass backfired when a Tesla designer threw a metal ball at the window, causing it to shatter on stage.

This incident foreshadowed the numerous challenges that have plagued the Cybertruck’s journey to market, including multiple production delays and ongoing quality control issues.

Even now, with the Cybertruck finally on the road, it has faced at least four recalls for various issues, including problems with the wiper motor, accelerator pedal, trunk, and trim pieces falling off. Concerns about the glass windows have persisted, with reports of glass shattering due to hail and even from an enthusiastic Tesla fan who broke the windshield by walking on it.

Despite its rugged appearance and high-tech features, the Cybertruck is not invulnerable, and owners should remain cautious about their vehicles.
