Bugatti is known for creating super-expensive automobiles. So, in a way, it is not a piece of news that Bugatti has built an expensive car. Why would it be when a Bugatti Chiron – the basic model by Bugatti – is priced at around $3 million. However, when Bugatti creates a car, La Voiture Noire, that costs $19 million including taxes; that is news! Before taxes, the car is priced at $12.5 million.
As per Bugatti, La Voiture Noire is the most expensive new car that has ever been sold. Only one unit of La Voiture Noire will be made. Bugatti has not revealed any information about the buyer for this expensive car. However, the automaker has said that the buyer is someone who enjoys an enormous attachment to the Bugatti Brand. It is also evident that the potential buyer is someone who has immense financial freedom. It is not easy, after all, to pay $19 million for a car.
Bugatti’s new La Voiture Noire has been designed with inspiration from the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic of the 1930s. Only four of those cars were manufactured, and they stand among the most valuable cars in the world today. According to Hagerty Insurance, a company that specializes in tracking collector car values, they can be worth over $50 million. One of those cars became famous with the nickname of ‘La Voiture Noire’ which simply translates to ‘the black car.’ Only three are known to survive with the fourth one disappearing shortly before Germany invaded France during WWII.
The Type 57 SC Atlantic was designed by Jean Bugatti. Jean Bugatti was the son of Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti. This was a time when the bodies for the expensive cars were crafted by separate body makes instead of the automobile companies themselves. Jean Bugatti is known to have designed some of the most beautiful cars ever to come out from Bugatti.
Bugatti’s new La Voiture Noire has about 1,500 of horsepower and a 16-cylinder engine – same as the $3 million Bugatti Chiron on which it has been based. What do you think of this expensive car?
