This Artificial Intelligence Engineer In China Built Himself A Robotic Wife

Chinese Humanoid Robot Wife (3)

Her was a movie that is fiction to all of us, but some are trying to make it a reality. Humans are terrible sometimes, and lots of people get their hearts broken. You can not control your other half so can choose to build a robot. It is that simple. Well, at least it was for a Chinese artificial intelligence expert who made himself a robot wife.

Zheng Jiajia is a 31-year-old AI expert hailing from the city of Hangzhou in China. He became popular when he married a robot named Yingying, which he had built himself just a year ago.

Zheng holds a master’s degree in artificial intelligence from Zhejiang University. Graduating 2011, he later spent three years working at Huawei but then joined Dream Town, an internet and tech startup hub in the city of Hangzhou. Just a year ago, he started to build a humanoid and ended up marrying it. Yingying is a female robot weighing 30kgs that can recognize Chinese characters and images. It can also say a few simple words.

As Zheng puts it, he had been dating the robot for two months when he decided to get married. The wedding took place in a small ceremony that his mother and some of his friends attended. A friend told Qianjiang Evening News he has had his heart broken in past and gave up finding a human partner. Zheng, however, called this a joke.

Zheng’s robot wife does not do much right now, but he plans to upgrade her giving the ability to walk, talk and even do house chores. He hopes to grow old alongside her, except he will be the only one getting old.

The idea is insane, definitely not Zheng and another French woman who 3D printed a robot and fell in love with it. She is just waiting to get such a wedding legalized before she marries her robot. The idea of human-robot relationships is not new. Experts have been talking about the possibilities for a while. Dr. David Levy, who is a robot expert and a best-selling author had predicted a marriage between a human and a robot by 2050.

Yes, most sane people would not consider it. Doesn’t hurt to explore the possibilities, does it?
