Apple enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the tech giant’s annual event at Apple Park in California, where the much-anticipated iPhone 16 will be launched.
However, this year the event has been nicknamed “It’s Glowtime,” hinting at more than just the iPhone 16. Alongside the new smartphone, Apple is expected to introduce a new product with some major changes. It seems this event will also celebrate a major milestone which is the tenth anniversary of the Apple Watch. Rumor has it that Apple will mark this occasion by launching the “Apple Watch X,” much like how the iPhone X was released in 2017 to celebrate a decade of the iPhone.
This special edition Apple Watch is reportedly in the works, with popular tech insider Mark Gurman revealing in his weekly newsletter that the company is “preparing for a big update.” He noted, “Apple Watch is nearing its 10th birthday, and the company has a chance to mark the occasion. With the X model, Apple designers are working on a thinner watch case and have explored changing the way bands are attached to the device.”
The “Apple Watch X” is rumored to bring significant design changes, including a larger display and potential enhancements under the hood, such as new AI-capable chips. These advancements could pave the way for future AI developments, although it’s worth noting that Apple’s upcoming AI features are currently expected to debut on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, rather than the Watch.
As the countdown to the event continues, Apple fans are keenly awaiting September 9th, when the special event will take place. While the exact date for the new iPhone’s release remains under wraps, experts suggest that pre-orders might begin as early as September 13th.
For now, many of us are trying to resist the urge to upgrade to a new iPhone. But with Apple’s latest launches on the horizon, that might not last long.
