Apple Could Release ‘iPad Fold,’ And A Folding iPhone In 2026, Analysts Say

Analyst Jeff Pu suggests Apple will introduce both a folding iPad and a folding iPhone to the market during late 2026. Pu maintains a strong track record of iPhone 17 predictions, which led him to announce that Apple will start mass production in Q4 2026 for potential release in 2026 or early 2027.

The upcoming “iPad Fold” model will have an 18.8-inch display that could combine iPad and MacBook features into a single 2-in-1 device. The information matches previous reports about an Apple hybrid device that transforms into a workstation-style interface. The folding iPhone will have an unfolded dimension of 7.8 inches, which exceeds the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s size, but specific screen details remain undisclosed.

The industry believes Apple would introduce its foldable iPad first since the company wants to test new technology on a different product before applying it to its flagship iPhone. The experimental approach would enable Apple to test new products without compromising its leadership position in the iPhone market. The increasing market penetration of Android foldables from 75% to 71% in 2023 has intensified the need for Apple to develop its own foldable smartphone.

Apple revealed a patent in 2023 for a folding iPhone that automatically folds itself when it drops to the ground, thus generating additional market speculation. Apple insiders and reputable news outlets such as Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal have confirmed through recent reports that foldable devices are under development at the company.

The predictions made by Pu suggest that 2026 could become a turning point for Apple hardware development by introducing foldable devices to the market. The future of tablet and smartphone technology remains uncertain, but Apple fans definitely have substantial reasons to anticipate upcoming products.
