AI-Powered Hitler Is Running Rampant Online

The rise of AI-powered Adolf Hitler avatars on social media is alarming, as right-wing extremists utilize artificial intelligence to revive the notorious dictator for online propaganda. According to a study by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), shared with the Washington Post, these AI-generated Hitler videos are spreading across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

In these videos, Hitler is seen or heard delivering his infamous speeches, now translated into English, gaining traction with millions of views. The ISD report cites that just seven AI-generated Hitler videos on YouTube amassed 6.9 million views in 2024 alone. Even more disturbing is how social media algorithms amplify the reach of this content, mirroring the viral spread of other extremist material.

It’s not the first time fringe organizations have used AI to further their objectives. ISIS has previously employed AI to produce visually stunning propaganda that encourages bloodshed and terrorism. Advances in AI technology have made it easier than ever for extremists to sway public opinion by making deepfake films and voice cloning tools more widely available.

The fact that platforms haven’t taken any direct steps to stop the dissemination of this kind of content is what makes the situation especially unsettling. According to the analysis, X in particular has become into a haven for pro-Hitler articles, with just 11 posts garnering 11.2 million views in a single week.

The rise of this AI-driven content reflects a broader surge in online antisemitism and hate speech, with extremist groups using cutting-edge technology to rewrite history and push their dangerous narratives further into the mainstream.
