There is nothing more comforting than one’s own home. The recently built Panorama House is a perfect example of what a home should look like. Architect Moon Hoon, designed the house for a client that had four kids and the husband-wife were teachers in their mid-thirties. Their basic requirement was a place for the kids to study, play and read. The upper floor was supposed to be for parents and the lower floor for kids. This particular architect was chosen because of architect’s creativity and playfulness. The name Panorama House was given to the project since the site reminded architect of LA suburbs at night.
In Architect’s words; ‘The basic request of upper and lower spatial organization and the shape of the site prompted a long and thin house with fluctuating facade which would allow for more differentiated view. The key was coming up with a multifunctional space which is a large staircase, bookshelves, casual reading space, home cinema, slide and many more.’ The client was, no doubt, very pleased with the design and accepted it almost right away. Yes, we know, you all are wondering what exactly makes this house so special? Well, take a look at the picture below and tell us what you see; A staircase? Yes, look closer, a book shelf, keep looking, ah it’s a cinema too! There you go. So you see; the Panorama House is indeed a wonderful house to live in. Let’s do an overview, shall we? We have a staircase with a built-in slide. Whether you’re a kid or an adult, this slide is definitely worth a try. Wouldn’t you agree? Also, the staircase cum library is a brilliant way of utilizing the space in house.
House was completed in 2011 and is quite famous because of its unique design. Who doesn’t want a slide in their house, not to mention the library and slide; a fun combo and quite a spectacular one! The cinema is wonderful too. Best view of the screen comes from the attic. The architect has indeed done an impressive job in utilizing the space creatively and still keeping it fun-packed. The kids, even adults, can slide down the staircase, use it as a cinema and the charm of library is still intact. We are sure the kids are having the time of their life with that slide that their parents had made and as a result, the parents are relaxed that their kids are playing within home instead of running outside where they might not be protected.
