Sky Elements, a Texas-based drone show company, has set a new Guinness World Record with a stunning Christmas drone show, breaking the record for the longest drone animation in China. On December 20, 2024, more than 5,000 drones performed a spectacular 30-minute show at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Center in North Richland Hills, Texas. The spectacular show not only celebrated the holiday season, but also marked the company’s 11th world record.
The event was a “drive-in” experience where audiences could remain in their vehicles while listening to a synchronized audio track broadcast on FM 88.9. The show featured a dazzling aerial storytelling, including a formation of 5,000 drones, opening with a giant turkey spreading its colorful feathers, followed by a magical Christmas scene. Giant snowmen, gingerbread villages, Santa Claus and his reindeer floated through the sky, accompanied by festive music and sound effects, which captivated the audience.
Sky Elements surpassed its previous record of 2,500 drones set just a week earlier, achieving the title for the “Longest Animation Performed by Drones.” The Guinness World Records official was present to verify the achievement. The show, which lasted 30 minutes, exceeded the previous record of 26 minutes set by a Chinese company.
The drone light show industry is growing rapidly in the U.S. as an eco-friendly and safer alternative to traditional fireworks, making a significant impact on public celebrations. Sky Elements, in collaboration with drone technology company UVify, continues to push the boundaries of drone entertainment, delighting audiences and setting new standards in the industry. However, a separate Christmas drone event in Florida took a tragic turn when several drones fell, injuring a child.
