Honda’s 1.6 i-DTEC tourer was taken around by two of Honda’s European research and development team members and it recorded an average 100.31 mpg (2.82 l/100 km) over an 8,387 miles (13,498 km) road trip. Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren began their journey on June 1 and took a 25 day road trip across EU winding back to their starting point.Honda Bags Guinness World Record For Lowest Fuel Consumption 3

Unlike Audi’s one-fuel-tank-over-14-countries, the Honda team refueled 9 times, averaging 932 miles (1,500 km) on a full tank. With the record in place, Honda safely touts the practical economy of the Tourer.Honda Bags Guinness World Record For Lowest Fuel Consumption 4

Per the rules of the game, a standard model car that was regularly refueled could attempt the record and the Tourer has made Honda proud. With optimized wheel alignment and tire pressure, and the duo’s efficient driving, smooth accelerating/braking, route management, a well maintained car and nominal weight carriage, Honda ensured that the Tourer achieved maximum fuel efficiency.
