Many people like to travel but simply can’t put up without the luxury lifestyle that they are used to. For such people specifically and all others, Mercedes-Benz Zetros is the perfect truck for off-roading while maintaining that luxurious lifestyle as well. The Mercedes-Benz Zetros is, essentially speaking, a luxury apartment with wheels and has been created as a result of partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Hartmann Spezialkarosserien.
It is a decent sized mobile home that enjoys the Zetros platform by the Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle comes with all-wheel permanent drive coupled with 3 unique locks and a 2-stage transfer case that enables Zetros to travel almost everywhere. According to Mercedes, Zetros is capable of traveling in rivers that are up to 1.19 m deep and is capable of climbing up hills with 80% gradient and comes with an axle articulation of 2 x 500mm.
The truck is powered by a 7.2 liter inline 6 cylinder that offers 240 kW in collaboration with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This beast of performance transforms into a luxurious mobile home upon reaching the destination. This is achieved with the 6.6 x 2.4 meter apartment that is carried by the truck and can be extended – electrically operated – by employing an extension mechanism that is made from carbon fiber skin.
Now that we have talked about the truck’s performance, let’s dive into the interior details of the apartment. The apartment of this mobile home comes with equipment from Hünerkopf and includes; a kitchenette, a bathroom, a shower and a double bed. Interior lighting relies on low power LEDs that can be dimmed if need. Users also have access to an internet connection and a TV while having 2 separate LED displays that are connected to a Bose sound system.
Zetros is capable of carrying 300 liters of water and 600 liters of diesel. The electric power comes from lithium-ion batteries and a backup of solar energy. In case of these power systems failing, user can also rely on the on-board power generator. The truck also comes equipped with two diesel powered hot water shower systems that are operated independently.
Zetros will be revealed in configuration level at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf and a completed version will be shown off at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show 25 September in Hanover.
