Xiaomi Achieves A Technological Break-Through By Mass-Producing Transparent Screens

The first ever transparent screen put to mass production

Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition is the world’s first transparent television put to mass production. It features an edge-to-edge transparent self-luminous display, transmitting images and videos which seemingly are floating in the air. It definitely would be a whole new-experience watching your favorite shows on this model, which is set to step in the market on the 16th of August.

Xiaomi’s Transparent screen is the third significant drop announced during its 10th-anniversary launch event after its iconic Mi 10 Ultra and Redmi K30 Ultra did well in the market.

Transparent Edition offers a perfect combination of cutting-edge display technology and elegant modern design; it looks like a mere glass display when turned off. The pictures it displays blend the virtual and the real world to bring an unparalleled visual experience.

Traditional televisions come with a back panel; however, Xiaomi’s unique design transparent screen creatively sets all the processing units in its base stand. The compact shape is said to give the viewers a mesmerizing experience but simultaneously brings about countless technical challenges. Xiaomi overcomes all those difficulties and thus has become the world’s first mass producer of transparent OLED TVs. The TV is perfect not only for homes, but also for galleries, museums, shopping malls, and theaters.

For some of you who are not familiar with OLED technology: it stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, a particular layer inside the television that glows when an electric current passes through it. Mi’s transparent screen comes with flagship-level hardware that receives all the latest upgrades in both sound and picture quality.

Key Specs

The TV comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 120Hz MEMC technology, providing viewers with smoother and brighter motion representation. The 1ms fast response rate also makes gaming truly lifelike with smooth controls. It equips an AI Master Smart Engine, along with the MediaTek 9650 custom-made TV chip, with over 20 optimization algorithms and dedicated optimization for five major use scenarios, the device intelligently refines graphic resolution to create vibrant pictures.

Xiaomi’s all-new launch is capable of restoring the awe-inspiring colors that bring images to life. Its 10-bit panel displays 1.07 billion color combinations and an extra-wide color spectrum far beyond what the human eye can perceive. It supports AI Master for Audio, allowing the device to intelligently detect the type of content playing and choose a fitting audio mode from a list spanning movies, music, newsfeed, sports, and others.

Mi TVs have been leading the market in its domain since the last six quarters. In the past seven years, Mi TV business has grown from an industry newcomer to the first Chinese TV brand with annual shipments exceeding 10 million units, and it proves a lot about the brand’s TV quality.
