Watch A Torpedo Hit And Destroy A U.S Navy Frigate

It is not a secret that countries are always heavily investing in their defense systems to be fully prepared for any incoming attacks or tense circumstances. The era we live in has limited resources and the people after those resources are increasing by the day. This is why countries are massively focusing on their military preparations to claim their rights on the disputed resources.

Last week, the US Navy conducted a sinking exercise (SINKEX) with a decommissioned frigate. Several strikes were made as part of the exercise. The footage from the exercise is open to the public now. In the end, an MK48 Advanced Capability Torpedo ended up destroying the frigate.

The SINKEX exercise was held in the Hawaiian Islands Operating Area. It was not just the effort of any single organization. In fact, Vinson Carrier Strike Group (VINCSG), Submarine Forces Pacific, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, III Marine Expeditionary, and U.S. Army Multi-Domain Task Force worked together in this exercise.

The whole exercise was conducted so the ex-USS Ingraham could be destroyed. This model was the last piece belonging to the category of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate that the U.S. had built and was in service between 1989 and 2015.

The shots from the exercise show that more than one kind of weapon was used for the purpose of destroying the ship. They were the Joint Standoff Weapon, the Harpoon weapon systems, laser-guided weapons, and the MK48 torpedo.

The Large-Scale Exercise was held between August 2 and August 16. The potential of the new weapons was exhibited during the event. This included Expeditionary Advanced Basing Operations concepts and others of its likes. All of this helped achieved the purpose of testing innovative technology and putting its capabilities on trial.
