The enhanced features of the latest drones and widespread popularity of the UAVs inevitably led to the birth of a new sport: Drone Racing!
One of the first questions about drone racing is related to the maximum speed that these racing unmanned aerial vehicles can achieve. Nissan just took the whole drone racing experience up a notch by creating a customized Nissan GT-R drone that can go from 0 to 100km/hr in an incredible 1.3 seconds.
You can see the customized Nissan GT-R drone race against a real GT-R in this video:
James Bowles, who also won the 2015 British National Drone Racing championship, piloted the drone. Nissan GT-R drone is fitted with four 2,000 kV motors. The drone was custom-made to keep up with the 2017 Nissan GT-R.
Although, the four-wheeled GT-R won the race, remember that this race was a part of the marketing campaign for the 2017 Nissan GT-R, so the result was pretty obvious right from the start.
Albeit losing the race, Nissan GT-R drone indicates the features and advancements in drone racing that we may witness in the coming days.
