WATCH: The Ever Given Has Been Freed

It has finally happened, after being stuck for 152 hours across the Suez Canal, the Ever Given has been dislodged and can be seen floating across the Suez canal like it should have done a week ago.

According to Boskalis, a Dutch company working with the Egyptian government to free the vessel, the Ever Given was freed from its position blocking the canal at 3:05 p.m. local time on Monday.

This was the result of a combination of diggers, tug boats, and dredgers working tirelessly for nearly a week to make enough room to free the massive, 400m monster of a ship. Videos are emerging from Suez of the Ever Given floating northwards across the canal.

“Admiral Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, has announced the resumption of shipping traffic in the Suez Canal,” the Suez Canal Authority said in a statement to announce the end of the crisis. At a cost of nearly $400 million every hour, the Ever Given disrupted trade equalling almost $60 billion over the course of the blockage.
