You might have seen a motor work, but winding a motor is no little task. The team at the KOFFLER Electrical facilities in San Leandro, CA has filmed the entire process of rewinding a motor.
In the video, you will see the making of the wire coils for the motor leading to the Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VIP) process finishing the motor off by submerging the rotor in a resin. A combination of dry and wet vacuum and pressure cycles then assimilate the resin all through the insulation system.
Most of the winding and finishing is done with manual labor, the results are documented, and each motor is certified before it is shipped to the customer.
