The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center has recently introduced Tiangong, a groundbreaking electrically-driven humanoid.
Founded in November last year, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre is a forward-thinking organisation in China’s robotics scene. Hailed as “the first provincial-level humanoid robot innovation centre in China,” this centre is a vital nexus for over one hundred robotics enterprises.
Beijing Yizhuang Investment Holdings Limited, UBTech Robotics, Xiaomi, and Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric collaborated to create Tiangong, the centre’s most recent innovation. This humanoid, which aims to achieve five primary goals, including creating general humanoid models and prototypes, embodies technological innovation and prowess. It is superior to competitors such as Unitree’s H1 and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. Interestingly, it can run steadily at 6 km/h and negotiate stairs and hills even in “blind conditions.”
Like its counterparts, Tiangong does not yet have hands that resemble humans. Its performance is impressive, thanks to state-of-the-art methods such as “State Memory-based Predictive Reinforcement Imitation Learning.” Furthermore, Tiangong’s six-axis force sensors guarantee accurate force feedback, which improves its operational effectiveness.
With a height of 1.63 metres and a weight of about 43 kg, Tiangong runs on a 48 V/15 Ah battery. Three arms and six-leg joint degrees of freedom are among its innovative features, along with inbuilt Wi-Fi connectivity. Tiangong’s computing power is similarly remarkable, with an astounding 550 trillion operations per second.
With Tiangong being refined and further developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre, the future of electric humanoids in many settings is looking brighter.
