The Cedar Point theme park is located in the city of Sandusky, Ohio and has recently released news that it will soon be coming up with a new ride that will bring 10 world records to the theme park. Valravan will be ‘the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster’. As per the information released, it will be 223ft tall with speeds of 75mph and a length of 3,415ft.
Valravan (val-rey-vuhn) has been designed by Bolliger & Mabillard that was also behind the Fury 325 at Carowinds in North Carolina. It is not as fast, tall or long as Fury 325, however, it will be leading each of the categories that are assigned to the dive coaster category. Dive coaster is a kind of roller coaster that feature at least one vertical drop.
Valravan will sport the most inversions on a dive coaster (a total of 3), the longest drop at 214ft and shall also rock the highest inversion on a dive coaster at the height of 165ft. Cedar Point has stated that Valravan will also be contributing in letting the theme park bag some other records as well; it will help the park bag “the most roller coasters taller than 200ft” located at one amusement park (the park will have a total of 5), the most rides any amusement park features (a total of 72) and the most steel roller coaster track at one amusement park (52,125ft.) and the most roller coaster track at any one amusement park (60,110ft.).
It will sport three 24-passenger floor-less trains where riders will be sitting in eight across and shall be held in place via over-the-shoulder restraints. The first climb of this amazing ride shall be taking riders up to the 223ft, which is the peak of the coaster after which there will be a pause of movement at the edge of a plunge at 90-degree for almost four seconds followed by falling 214ft downwards. The remainder of the ride will see passengers flipping upside-down while going through an Immelmann turn (165ft.) and will then plunge again for another 125ft and then finally go through a 270-degree roll to conclude the ride.
Construction has already begun and as per the reports, it shall be open to public next year!
