The US Air Force has released a video that shows a B2 bomber dropping the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP). The GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator is the strongest bunker buster that the US Air Force has and is also referred to as the mother of all bunker buster bombs. The video has been released at a time when tensions with Iran are at an all-time high.
The video is the most high-definition video to be ever released of the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator. It shows two of the MOPs being deployed on ground targets at a location that remains undisclosed. The footage depicts the 33,000-lb bombs being dropped from a B-52 bomber and then disappearing into the Earth eventually exploding into a giant flaming ball. The GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator is the strongest non-nuclear bunker buster on Earth. It makes use of a GPS system for the sake of precision.
Because of the guidance system, the weapon is capable of even hitting the targets that are buried deep. The MOP can dig into soil, rock, and concrete while completely annihilating its target. The B-52 bomber can carry a pair of these MOPs and can deploy them anywhere in the world. The video has been released by the US Air Force after the US has sent its troops, planes, and ships to the Gulf because of rising tensions with Iran.
The American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has also arrived in the Arabian Sea – two weeks ahead of its schedule. The carrier and its strike group feature four vessels including cruisers and destroyers. On the other hand, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has stated that their missiles can reach the warships in the Middle East without breaking a sweat. America has acted after identifying ‘credible threat’ from Iran. The threat is the overhead images of small boats that are in the Persian Gulf with completely assembled Iranian missiles on board.
America has already withdrawn non-essential embassy staff from Iraq and has redeployed the Lincoln while putting security alerts on high all over the region. Iran’s top general Qassem Suleimani has told allies in Iraq to ‘prepare for proxy war’. Let’s see how this whole fiasco unfolds – hopefully, it should end without any conflict.
