In Turkey, a commercial plane skidded off the runway during landing and went into a muddy cliff. There were 168 people on board Pegasus Airlines Flight PC8622 in the Boeing 737-800. The event is described as a miracle after everyone was evacuated safely from the plane. After landing into the muddy cliff, the plane was hanging with its nose only a few feet away from the sea.
The aircraft’s images show that the aircraft landed on its belly and was just a few feet above the water. If it had not stopped in the mud, the plane would have dived into the Black Sea in Trabzon province of Turkey. The incident created panic among all the passengers on board. The crew of the plane, that includes two pilots, were also evacuated without any injuries. After the incident, the flights were suspended for many hours at the Trabzon Airport. The flights were then resumed on Sunday.
A passenger, Yuksel Gordu, told the Anadolu news about the incident saying, “It’s a miracle we escaped. We could have burned, exploded, flown into the sea. Thank God for this. I feel like I’m going crazy when I think about it.” Another passenger, Fatma Gordu, said, “We swerved all of a sudden. The front of the plane crashed and the back was in the air. Everyone panicked.” Passengers said that they heard a loud sound after the landing.
Trabzon Governer, Yucel Yavuz, said that investigations are being carried out to find the reason that why the plane left the runway. The prosecutor’s office has also launched an investigation to find the causes of the impact.
The flight took off from Turkey’s capital, Ankara, and was supposed to land safely at the Trabzon Airport.
