4. Gravity (2013)
This is another multiple academy award winning film. The movie is a fictional story which features Dr. Ryan Stone (played by Sandra Bullock) a Biomedical Engineer going on her first space mission but things turn for the worst when space debris collides with their space shuttle killing most the crew. The movie grabbed the audience through its stunning audio-visual effects & hence it won 7 academy awards missing narrowly on best picture. NASA Astronaut Buzz Aldrin said regarding the visual effects “I was so extravagantly impressed by the portrayal of the reality of zero gravity. Going through the space station was done just the way that I’ve seen people do it in reality.”

3. The Social Network (2010)
This movie is based on the book titled,“The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal”. The critically acclaimed movie depicts the founding of the social media site Facebook. It stars Jesse Eisenberg as founder Mark Zuckerberg, along with Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin and Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker. At the 83rd Academy Awards, it was nominated for eight categories that included the best picture. The movie made around 250$ million at the box office.

The movie revolves around a crew of astronauts who go on a search of a new planet to support human life as earth is now becoming inhabitable. The movie made almost 675$million at the box office though it had a budget exceeding 100$ million. The concepts of space & time touched in the movie have been subjects of debate by many astrophysicists, and it remains one of the most compelling scientific movies to date.
