This YouTuber Has Created A New World Record – By Making A Lightsaber That Actually Works

Many scientists are currently involved in the inventions that are enabling them to break world records. Efforts are being made worldwide for different technologies which have resulted in vast and incredible changes.

In 2021, researchers from Purdue University invented paint that could reduce or even eliminate the need for air conditioning in a building if it was coated with it. It was made possible by the extremely high concentration of a chemical compound, Barium Sulfate.

Last week, Stanford Medicine scientists broke another world record by inventing a new genome sequencing technique that can diagnose rare genetic disorders in an average of eight hours.

A Russian You tuber, Alex Burkan has recently broken another record by engineering a Star Wars laser that actually works. Scientists from the holography research group at Brigham Young University contributed to it in the past and made “lightsabers” and photon torpedoes with real laser beams but these could not produce a beam that could actually cut through something. In fact, they used their optical trap display method to re-enact famous scenes. And the scenes they created were real. As, lead researcher Dan Smalley, a professor of electrical engineering at BYU said, “This is not like the movies, where the lightsabers or the photon torpedoes never really existed in physical space. These are real, and if you look at them from any angle, you will see them existing in that space.”

You tuber, Alex Burhan from the channel Alex Lab, has invented a device that can generate a 1 meter long, 2800°C plasma blade that can cut through steel. It is retractable. You tuber has mentioned his interests in Star Wars and his contributions towards the same in the following words: “All my life I was a great Star Wars fan and the lightsaber was my most-wanted gadget,” He further said,  “The key component of my lightsaber is an electrolyzer. An electrolyzer is a device that can generate a huge amount of hydrogen and oxygen and compress the gas to any pressure without a mechanical compressor.”

This lightsaber reflects some of its limitations as well. It only works for 30 seconds at full power. Moreover, it is such an admirable creation that may become the envy of Star Wars supporters everywhere.
