The Space Launch System rocket will be the most powerful rocket booster ever created. However, this NASA rocket will also need a huge tank of liquid hydrogen to fuel it.
This liquid hydrogen tank will be built using the world’s largest welding machine.
This time-lapse footage shows the construction of the 130-feet tall fuel tank. This tank will only power the first stage of NASA’s SLS.
The construction work on the SLS is still in its initial stages at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. SLS will be tested for structural strength and endurance in Alabama and will eventually be used for missions to explore deep space and even Mars.
