Having sunlight in your home is very important for the health and well-being of your family. But, guess what else is good for the household and environment in general? Clean green energy. So, in a bid to provide both of these essential things, this architectural company has begun making a prototype house in Marbella, Spain which can rotate on its own axis and harness maximum amount of Solar energy as well as providing much-needed Solar exposure to the house as well. It can rotate a full 360 degrees as the Sun follows its path and it will be the first of its kind ever built in Europe.
The Marbella is a favorite destination for tourists from around the world due to its scenic appearance and plenty of Sun in the summers. The house rotates a few degrees every 15 minutes and keeps on doing it till the Sun sets. The rotation is so small and insignificant that the people inside don’t feel a thing. The Sunlight incident on Solar panels is very important for them to function at maximum capacity and just like any Solar tracker, the rotating house can get the maximum benefit from the Sun while providing a different scenery for the occupants every other hour or so which is great for tourism. We have seen rotating restaurants and the like before, but they are just for being different. This revolving home, on the other hand, is a very practical concept for tourism, health and green energy projects.
Currently, the only thing standing in the way of the technology is money as a 2,690 Square feet house will cost a whopping 820,000 $ to build. It is several times more expensive than a normal construction and the developers will have to bring it down if they want to see the design become commercially viable. It can save up to 70% of the energy requirements of a house and reduce Carbon emissions by 68% so it is a good start for them. Co-founder Jose Carlos Moya is excited about his whole project and he has already been commissioned to complete a home in the Marbella. He claims that 10 more homes are on the cards soon enough.
