Startup Litefar has introduced the Orion, a motorized cargo wagon designed to make transporting heavy loads effortless.
Hauling heavy items can be physically taxing, but the Orion motorized wagon aims to solve that problem. The Orion boasts a sleek design, with one rubberized wheel at each corner, and is powered by two 500-W hub motors located at the rear. This motor setup provides the wagon with a top speed of 4.4 mph (2 meters per second), adjustable via a wireless remote control that offers four different speed settings, starting at 0.6 m/s. Whether you’re navigating smooth pavement or rougher terrain, the Orion makes moving up to 180 lbs (81.6 kg) of gear much easier.
Designed for versatility, the Orion is perfect for outdoor activities like beach treks, camping, or even household use. One of its standout features is the Smart Mode, which leverages AI to optimize the power output. With data from the “high-precision Inertial Measurement Unit,” the system automatically adjusts the motor power to maintain a steady speed, even when going uphill or encountering resistance. The Smart Mode also keeps the wagon moving in a straight line and compensates for any sudden pushes, ensuring stability and control during use.
The Orion’s functionality is further enhanced by a range of convenient features. The joystick-equipped remote control has a 12-meter (39.4 feet) transmission range, and a simple push of a button engages the electronic brake. A useful hold function keeps the wagon in place until it’s unlocked, and the reverse gear allows for easy maneuvering in tight spaces. Additionally, the Orion can be collapsed down to a compact size of 12 x 10 x 32 inches for easy transport and storage.
Powering this innovative wagon is a robust 24,000-mAh battery, capable of delivering up to 6.2 miles (10 km) per charge. The battery can also serve as a USB power bank, allowing users to charge gadgets like smartphones when needed. Along with its 140-liter fabric cargo box, the Orion offers optional add-ons like side pockets, a cargo net, and even a fold-out table, making it highly customizable for different uses. It can also tow up to 415 lbs (188 kg), further extending its utility.
The Orion’s all-terrain wheels are tubeless and IPX6-rated, making them resistant to water exposure from puddles or beach tides. For nighttime use, the Orion includes a telescopic lantern, while the remote control doubles as a 300-lumen flashlight with an SOS mode for emergencies. Constructed from lightweight yet durable aluminum alloy, the wagon weighs just 36 lbs (16.5 kg) and collapses by 40% for convenient transport.
Currently, the Orion has been launched on Kickstarter, where pledges start at $389. The campaign is already fully funded, with shipping expected to begin in December if all goes according to plan.
