Portable power solutions are revolutionary in an age where maintaining connectivity is essential, even when traveling off the grid. Presenting the Shine 2.0, a 3-in-1 portable wind turbine built for emergency preparedness and outdoor enthusiasts. This little turbine provides a flexible, renewable energy source that can fast-charge a smartphone in less than 20 minutes. It folds down to the size of a 1-liter water bottle and weighs under 3 lb (1.36 kg).
The Shine 2.0 boasts three 23.6-inch composite-reinforced blades and can be mounted on a 6-ft-high tower accessory. Capable of generating 50 watts of power in optimal 28-mph winds, the turbine can charge a laptop in under 2 hours. However, if wind speeds drop to 8 mph, that same laptop could take over 75 hours to recharge. For added convenience, users can track real-time performance via a companion mobile app with Bluetooth connectivity.
Equipped with a 12,000-mAh Li-ion battery, the Shine 2.0 also functions as a power bank, providing 75-watt fast charging for phones, laptops, drones, and cameras via a USB-C port. Optional adapters allow it to charge power stations from brands like Jackery, EcoFlow, and Bluetti.
Aurea co-founder Rachel Carr highlights its dual utility: “Whether you’re exploring off-grid or facing a power outage at home, this turbine provides renewable energy to fast-charge your devices when you need them most.” Shine 2.0, Aurea’s second iteration of its portable turbine, builds on the success of its predecessor, initially funded on Kickstarter.
With pledges starting at CA$ 483 (about US$356), Shine 2.0 is set to ship by May 2025, offering a promising solution for those who need to power up while unplugging from the grid.
