The Olympian Model 01, an electric sedan crafted by Olympian Motors, breaks away from the stereotypical electric car design with its classic aesthetics and minimalist interior. Manufactured in New York, this four-door, four-passenger vehicle features a military-grade carbon fiber and titanium body perched on a Super Board “skateboard chassis” developed by Chinese electric mobility company U Power Tech.
The Model 01’s 310-hp motor generates 305 lb-ft of torque, propelling the rear-wheel-drive sedan from 0 to 60 mph in a swift 5.7 seconds. Impressively, it claims a top speed of 160 mph, and its 400V/82-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is touted to deliver a range of approximately 305 miles.
Inside, the Model 01 cultivates a classic car ambiance, incorporating sustainably sourced materials such as exotic woods, steel, cashmere, and silk. What sets it apart is the intentional reduction of traditional controls; 80% of buttons and switches have been replaced by a combination of a heads-up display on the windshield and a voice-command system. This streamlined interface manages various functions, including infotainment, climate control, seat adjustment, and lighting, contributing to a clutter-free interior.
Safety features are robust, encompassing up to nine airbags and laminated glass for all windows and the roof canopy, ensuring a secure environment for passengers. Olympian Motors is currently accepting refundable $500 deposits for the Founders Edition of the Model 01, priced at $80,000.
Prospective buyers in the US, Canada, and China can partake, with test-drive events slated for various American cities starting in April and initial deliveries expected in May.
Simultaneously, Olympian Motors is developing the Model 84, an open-top retro-futuristic EV, with details to be unveiled in a forthcoming article. The company’s unique approach blends classic design elements with cutting-edge electric technology, presenting a distinctive fusion of style, performance, and sustainability in the dynamic electric vehicle landscape.
