This New Chinese EV Is Rolling Out To Dealers With 10-Minute Ultra-Fast Charging

Zeekr, the innovative Chinese automaker, will set an EV technology standard with the 2025 Zeekr 007 sedan. Equipped with an 800-V lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes only. This is far and away the most cutting-edge feature in electric vehicles—quick refueling like conventional cars are now within reach.

The other new battery is what Nio calls the “Golden Battery,” still with a 75-kWh capacity, good for over 680 km (422 miles) of range on the Chinese CLTC cycle. This equates to gaining around 480 km (298 miles) of range in just ten and a half minutes in real-world driving. For that reason, Zeekr does not stop there. The company is further enhancing the program by building out its ultra-fast 800-V charging network, intending to double its 500-station network by the end of 2024 and scale up to 10,000 chargers by 2026.

Zeekr’s relentless focus on battery innovation places it at the forefront of the global EV market, particularly in China, where the pace of development outstrips much of the rest of the world. The 2025 Zeekr 007’s battery technology represents not just an incremental improvement but a significant step forward, building on the company’s history of groundbreaking achievements. Last year, Zeekr’s introduction of the Qilin battery in the Zeekr 001 sedan already set high benchmarks, and now the updated 007 sedan outpaces even that, offering faster charging times than competitors like Li Auto’s Mega MPV.

As Zeekr rolls out this new technology, it underscores a broader trend: China’s dominance in the EV sector. While the West, including automakers like Hyundai and Tesla, continues to make strides in fast charging, Zeekr’s advancements highlight China’s leadership in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in EV innovation.
