This New Autonomous Robot Can Allow For Smooth 24/7 Medication Delivery In Hospitals

Richtech has introduced a service robot, Medbot, designed to provide round-the-clock pharmacy medication delivery. It is the latest addition to Richtech’s Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) lineup, which handles tasks such as autonomous floor cleaning and hotel delivery services. The company asserts that Medbot’s reliable, elevator-enabled technology ensures seamless navigation within healthcare facilities, ensuring disruption-free medication deliveries.

This cutting-edge robot has a number of features designed to maximize its effectiveness in medical settings. By integrating with lifts, Medbot can move effortlessly between floors and across intricate areas. It has four storage sections with a combined capacity of up to 3.17 gallons (12 liters), and each section can be opened separately for safe and efficient medicine delivery. The capacity of Medbot to navigate through congested areas and dense crowds guarantees fast delivery.

A large touchscreen display improves usability by allowing easy scheduling and real-time monitoring of Medbot’s operations. With eight ultrasonic sensors and two cameras, Medbot is exceptionally good at identifying and avoiding obstacles, enabling secure and effective movement across the facility.

Medbot’s IoT features facilitate data sharing with other devices and systems, such as bright doors, guaranteeing a smooth integration with a building’s infrastructure. Richtech claims that these characteristics make Medbot an exact and discreet drug delivery solution, increasing total productivity and freeing up people for more important duties.

According to Richtech, the launch of Medbot is appropriate considering the present pharmacy staff shortage in the healthcare industry. By automating the process, Medbot offers a dependable, secure, and continuous drug delivery service. It guarantees precise medication delivery to patients for up to 24 hours of functioning, with a 10-hour continuous delivery capacity.

This technology allows pharmacy technicians to stay in the pharmacy for more productive tasks rather than handling routine deliveries. “Finding a way to offload routine daily tasks for healthcare workers has been a pain point for many years, and we’re excited to launch an innovative solution to help hospitals gain a competitive edge,” Richtech stated.

According to the company, Medbot has achieved 100 percent delivery success in its installations. It has been effectively utilized in various scenarios, including pharmacy-to-inpatient units, emergency departments, pharmacy-to-pharmacy conveyance, and “meds-to-beds,” where outpatient pharmacies discharge medication directly to a patient’s nurse.

“Amid rising operating expenses and a surge in patient numbers across the country, Medbot strives to empower healthcare facilities with superior care, despite staffing shortages,” Richtech emphasized.
