This Material Can Convert All The Stress Released By You Into Electricity

Almost all of us have been dealing with some form of stress or anxiety and we know that, except for tears and snot, it doesn’t give us much. However, scientists have recently developed this new organic material that will transform your stress into electricity.

The material, that generates electricity when there is some sort of movement going on this rubbery material, is created by a team from Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology.

The material works on the concept of the piezoelectric effect, a mechanism that utilizes motion to generate electricity.

For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, the piezoelectric effect is analogous to the sound produced by the analog record player in which electrical impulses are generated due to vibrations of the needle, which is an example of how mechanical waves produce electricity.

Researchers are hoping that the material would have vast applications in every field of life-ranging from robotics to clothes to medical technologies.

“This material could probably even be used to obtain energy from the human body,” said Opris. “You could implant it near the heart to generate electricity from the heartbeat, for instance.”
