This Is The World’s Largest Truck – And It Can Carry A Load Of 500 Tons

The BelAZ-75710, a Belarusian ultra-class truck, has held the title of the world’s largest haul truck for the past 10 years. Launched in 2013, this massive vehicle has put the BelAZ brand back on the map and solidified its position as a leader in the mining industry.

The largest and most potent mining trucks in the world were made by BelAZ during the Soviet era. With their own versions, Western producers like Caterpillar, Liebherr, and Bucyrus took up the title of “world’s largest truck” after the fall of the Soviet Union. Nevertheless, with the release of the BelAZ-75710, BelAZ made an impressive comeback.

The BelAZ-75710 is considerably heavier than its predecessor, the 7560, which weighed just 240 tons when empty, at a startling 360 tons. This behemoth’s tires alone weigh an incredible 5.5 tons each. The truck’s astounding dimensions are 20 meters long, 9.7 meters wide, and 8.2 meters high. Its maximum cargo capacity is 450 tons, but in 2014, it broke that record by towing an astounding 503.5 tons, setting a new Guinness World Record.

Powering this mammoth truck is a hybrid system comprising two MTU DD16V4000 V16 diesel engines, each capable of generating 2,300 horsepower (1,700 kW). These engines work in conjunction with two AC alternators and four AC traction motors, providing the necessary power to move such a colossal load.

Despite its immense size, the BelAZ-75710 can achieve a top speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) when empty. However, this speed decreases to 45 km/h (27 mph) when the truck is loaded or driving uphill.

The BelAZ-75710 has proven its mettle in the mining industry, providing an efficient and powerful solution for moving massive loads of up to 500 tons. Its impressive size, load capacity, and hybrid power system make it a standout among its competitors.

As the world’s largest haul truck for the past decade, the BelAZ-75710 exemplifies BelAZ’s commitment to innovation and engineering excellence. It has undoubtedly cemented its place in history as a true heavyweight in the world of mining trucks.
