Google’s New Headquarters in Mountain View 5

Google has taken the veils off some of the information pertaining to its new headquarters being built in Mountain View, California along with some of the renderings. Google has not released the fine details as of yet, however, it has hired one of the best architects; Bjarke Ingels and Thomas Heatherwick. This duo will be taking care of the design and with the information that has been released it is safe to assume that the finalized HQ building will be future-proof, flexible and sustainable.Google’s New Headquarters in Mountain View 9

David Radcliffe, VP of Google’s Real Estate, said, “We’re really making sure that we make spaces very open and accessible, so it’s not just for Googlers but for anyone in the area to come by.”

The HQ will be constructed in the North Bay Shore area of Mountain View. Renderings present quite an intriguing and futuristic look to the campus so far. The HQ shows a number of structures that have transparent roofs to allow natural light to pass through. The renders also depict a mashup of Heatherwick and Ingels work and style.

The proposed design incorporates lakes, greenery, bike paths while offering shade from the rain for cyclists in some areas via solar canopies. According to Google, a high number of HQ’s power requirement will be taken care of in a sustainable manner. There is no word on how much and how many sustainable technologies are being employed. Car parking shall be underground while the renderings are specifically focused on landscaping to impart a better connection with nature for staff and visitors alike.

Radcliffe further said, “Instead of constructing immoveable concrete buildings, we’ll create lightweight block-like structures which can be moved around easily as we invest in new product areas.”

Fingers crossed for Google’s new headquarters. Let’s see what wonders these two architects can create!
