Some people build tunnels to deal with traffic jams; others look to reinvent the car altogether!
Behold the Hum Rider SUV that is fit to feature in a Transformers film! The Jeep Cherokee Wagon body is shown to be stuck in traffic on a street in Lancaster, California when the driver hits a button on the dashboard and zoom goes the car up and above all pesky buggers blocking the road thanks to telescoping hydraulic legs. The base of the car widens as it glides several feet above the cars like a boss!
Unfortunately, the concept is too good to be true for now as the entire video is just a marketing stunt to for Verizon Telematic’s Hum platform.
Verizon VP of Marketing Jay Jaffin spoke in an interview with Mashable, about the video which they made in collaboration with the all famous Thinkmodo.
“In many respects, [the Hum Rider is] a bit of a metaphor, taking the ordinary driving experience and making it extraordinary. Kind of what we’re illustrating with that crazy car that drives over cars. We saw this one [and said], ‘Wow, that is crazy,’ We loved the idea,” said Jaffin.
Hum Rider weighs 8,500 lbs., which is double the weight of a standard Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thus Thinkmodo had to replace the standard tires with bigger truck tires. The extensions push the car at 9 feet, just high enough to move over the roof of a standard car.
It is just me or does this idea has some serious potential? Wonder if Elon Musk has seen this!
