The $8,000 lockable building-in-a-box from CMAX Systems is a revolutionary solution for temporary housing. Initially designed for refugees, this versatile structure is now available for purchase. Measuring 19 feet long and 7.4 feet wide, with a ceiling height of 7.2 feet, the unit provides a robust and habitable space. What makes it truly remarkable is its portability: it folds into a 330-pound unit that can be easily transported and assembled in just 11 minutes by two people without any special tools.
This building-in-a-box offers more than just a shelter. With a solid floor and lockable door, it serves as a secure and stable temporary home. Its design allows for various additional features such as solar panels, air-conditioning, and water treatment units. The unit’s natural ventilation system, combined with retractable surfaces, ensures comfort and privacy. When necessary, it can be sealed to function as a mobile medical unit or laboratory.
The potential applications for the CMAX System are vast. It can be used for temporary storage, living quarters, or workspaces, making it a valuable asset for race teams, construction and mining companies, and event organizers. Its design is particularly suitable for disaster relief, providing quick and stable shelters in emergency situations. The unit’s 20 height-adjustable feet allow it to be set up on various terrains, ensuring stability even on uneven ground.
The CMAX System is not just a practical solution for emergency housing; it also addresses the broader issue of affordable housing. With homelessness on the rise in the United States, this building-in-a-box offers a cost-effective and rapid deployment option for providing shelter to those in need. Its durability and versatility make it an ideal choice for various climates and conditions, promising a brighter future for affordable, temporary housing solutions.
If you go to the CMAX System website, you can request information about buying a CMAX by filling out a form. You won’t find the purchase price unless you directly inquire via the form. And if you do inquire, they will try to get you to buy shares in the company.
We spoke directly to Argentinian Founder and CEO Nicolas Garcia Mayor about this, and he assured us that you can indeed buy one for $8,000 – buying shares in the company is not necessary. It’s certainly an odd way to do business, but the consumer side of the CMAX system is less of a focus than the CMAX Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose core stated aims are to help out with natural disaster relief and refugee support. Earlier versions of the CMAX system have already been in use for more than a decade, and every 11 CMAX systems sold to consumers will trigger the donation of one unit to the Foundation to be used in a refugee camp or disaster site.
The CMAX System company is selling these units to consumers on pre-order – so standard buyer-beware advice applies, and delivery dates are uncertain.
