Since its release on July 6th, Pokémon Go has taken the world by storm. The number of people walking around the streets, absorbed in their smartphones has increased dramatically, and the game has brought quite a cultural shift on a massive scale.
The release of Pokémon Go has once more drawn attention towards the limitations of the smartphone technology, especially battery power. PokéDex smartphone case is the answer to all your battery woes because this customised 3D printed smartphones case also doubles as an extra battery pack.
The combination of GPS and mobile data is one of the most dangerous enemies of your smartphone battery. Pokémon Go trail can lead you anywhere at all, and there is always a chance of running out of battery juice just as that elusive Pikachu is within your reach.
The Pokémon Go experts advise you to lug around mobile charging packs. However, the hassle of carrying a charging pack around is too much trouble. PokéDex smartphone case offers you a stylish alternative.
This 3D printed smartphone case packs both your smartphone and the mobile charging pack. The smartphone case has been designed by SparkFun user NPOOLE. PokéDex can perfectly fit a Samsung Galaxy S4, and a 2,600 mAh battery pack.
In future, Nintendo may release a customised battery pack itself. However, this 3D printed case is the perfect solution available right now. The designer aims to add more batteries and cooling fans in his next design. He already has released the files on GitHub so you can print one for your own phone at home.
NPOOLE explained the design saying:
“A 18650 lithium cell supplies backup power for your cell phone through a USB microB Plug Breakout mounted in the bottom of the Pokédex. To charge your smartphone, the 3.7v output of the 18650 needs to be boosted to 5v, which is where the SparkFun Power Cell comes in. There isn’t really a particular place for any of the components besides the USB plug and the LEDs, so I just stuck everything down with heavy duty doublestick foam tape. [Just] make sure the power switch and the USB charging port for the Power Cell are accessible once everything is mounted.”
Once you are done with printing a PokéDex smartphone case for your smartphone, don’t forget to share it with the Pokémon Go community. Se more images for the battery case below:
