1,200-Horsepower, 250-MPH, V12 Quad Bike Seeks World's Fastest Farmer

When it comes to vehicles, the Engler V12 Superquad is a terrifying anomaly that looks like a Lotus during brain surgery.

The most recent version of the Engler Superquad, with a V12 engine, is more ridiculous than any of the others. With 1,200 horsepower, the 2023 model significantly outperformed the 850 horsepower initial release, casting doubt on its status as one of the most frightening vehicles ever created. The new V12 variant pushes the threshold of rationality with an additional 100 horsepower and 100 kg. According to Interesting Engineering, “if the animated remains of Mick Jagger can continue belting out its greatest hits night after night, then by golly so can Engler, and so can we.”

The origins of the V12 engine is still unknown, although it is rumoured to have come from high-end manufacturers like AMG Mercedes or Lamborghini. The Engler V12, which has a power-to-weight ratio comparable to hypercars, has 1,200 horsepower, 1,200 kg, and 1,200 Nm of torque, combining performance and power reminiscent of hypercar aspirations.

The Engler Superquad’s quad bike platform presents inherent challenges despite its considerable power. Quad bikes do not have the stability systems that vehicles or motorcycles do, which allows them to manoeuvre at high speeds. In addition to pointing out the inherent instability that poses a risk of throwing riders off course, particularly in tight turns, it is important  to know the difference between power and control.

Real-world testing has not been able to match the Superquad’s claimed top speed of 250 mph, demonstrating the stark gap between technological marvels and practical performance and raising doubts about the unverified claims.

Beyond practicality, the Engler Superquad is a showpiece that was intended more for show than for actual transportation. It represents extravagance, meant for dramatic appearances at events and casinos, like classic hypercars vying for attention.

Although the V12’s performance claims need to be looked int, its ability to grab people’s attention confirms its status as a unique and fascinating piece on the roads.
