Two Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 strike drones have eliminated several pieces of equipment from the invading Russian forces for an approximate sum of $26.5 million in just three days.
To get a clearer idea, an approximate cost of a single Bayraktar TB2 drone is $5 million, and it appears that these drones are still flying and performing their operations as usual.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have started using Bayraktar TB2 strike drones actively at the front again. There was a period of a few weeks where there were no new announcements about the use of unmanned aerial vehicles on the Ukrainian side, which happened probably because of an intensified Russian air defense. Recently, Ukrainians successfully suppressed the enemy air defense and resumed UAV-based operations.
However, the circumstances have changed pretty fast. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny stated on his official Facebook account that over three days, these two machines produced by a Turkish defense company “Baykar” have destroyed several enemy targets for a total of $26.5 million.
The selection of targets for the Ukrainian Bayraktars is quite diverse: eight T-72 tanks, each of which costs about $3 million, a 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery mount (about $1.6 million), an infantry fighting vehicle worth $600,000, and howitzers for $300 thousand.
Additional five T-72 units and several infantry fighting vehicles were also damaged, at an estimated cost for the enemy of nearly $2 million.
“Effective Turkish Bayraktars in the capable hands of our soldiers are powerful weapons,” the Ukrainian general wrote. According to his statement, one of the UAVs that participated in the operation was purchased through a charity fundraiser organized by the Lithuanian people.
