A new series of smart exterior lights from Eufy, an Anker-owned firm that makes smart home products, will change color in response to who is approaching your front door. With the help of these permanent outdoor lights, Eufy’s security cameras and video doorbells may interact to change the lighting according to facial recognition. For instance, in the late hours of the night, the lights can change from a gentle white glow to a stronger red glow when welcoming family members or strangers. If their faces aren’t registered, the function can cause anxiety for early risers like Amazon delivery drivers.
The new Permanent Outdoor Lights E22 are an upgraded version of the older E120 model. They are brighter, offer warmer color tones, and come with an IP65 water and dust resistance rating, while the power adapter boasts a higher IP67 rating. In addition to their smart features, the lights also support music sync mode and come with AI-curated themes to fit various occasions, offering versatility in outdoor lighting.
Eufy is offering the new lights starting at $199 for a 50-foot string (30 lights) and $299 for 100 feet (60 lights). Despite being packed with advanced features, the company has not announced support for the Matter smart home standard. Instead, the lights can pair with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control and utilize Eufy’s WonderLink system to manage all smart home devices, including integrating with security cameras for facial recognition.
In addition to the Permanent Outdoor Lights, Eufy is launching a series of other RGB smart lights today. These include outdoor string lights ($129.99) with soft flame-like diffusion effects, outdoor spotlights ($99.99 for a pack of 2), pathway lights ($169.99 for a pack of 4), and an indoor floor lamp ($99.99) that washes walls in vibrant color.
