The internet has been talking about the upcoming Sun Valley for a while now and it seems like this new update might just be Windows 11. Information about Windows 10 end-of-life or EOL dates has already been released. However, screenshots of what seems to be the upcoming Windows 11 have also been leaked in the past weeks.
Microsoft is planning to reveal details of the next generation of windows and judging by how much has been leaked. We are pretty sure they are going to reveal details about it in their upcoming event on June 24th at 11 am ET/ 8 am PT. People are speculating that the update will be Windows 11. However, as of now, the name Sun Valley is confirmed.
The upcoming refresh seems to be a whole new look, a revamped user interface, a new Windows Store, and much more. The traditional start menu is no more and the new start menu seems to be centered on the taskbar. Kind of like a mac but let’s keep that debate for after we see official images of the final look. It looks more like an App Drawer which is a big change since the start menu has mostly had the same base design from Windows XP to Windows 10.
Most of the design takes inspiration from the unreleased Windows 10X, maybe they reused the assets made for it. The taskbar has been redesigned and the overall look seems to be much cleaner now. Widgets also appear to be back but they don’t function in the leaked version. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also teased significant updates that will be coming for windows.
He said that last month “We will create more opportunity for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build and distribute and monetize applications”.
The main thing is that we are expecting Windows 11 to follow the steps of its predecessor and be a free upgrade for any PC running Windows 10. Microsoft makes most of its money via OEM and commercial licenses and has been pushing free updates to Windows 10 already.
I guess we’ll know in two days if the new Sun Valley update is just a revamp for Windows 10 or a starting look of Windows 11.
