These Are The 10 Apps That Drain Your Battery The Most

It’s no secret that tech wizards know a thing or two about battery drain. According to Decluttr, a top-tier tech trading website, the most energy-draining apps are social media services, streaming sites, and some games. These apps run in the background even when you’re not using them, which is why your phone’s battery takes a hit.

Here is a list of the 10 WORST BATTERY-DRAINING APPS

1. Facebook

2. Twitter

3. Instagram

4. Snapchat

5. TikTok

6. Uber

7. Amazon

8. Spotify

9. Netflix

10. Candy Crush

Apparently, Meta-born apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok are notorious for using up energy pretty fast. More than that, even when you’re not actively on them they constantly gain access to your location info, audio recordings, pics, and contacts. To the disappointment of many – Threads – one of Meta’s most recent social media creations with an impressive 109 million+ user base has already started to receive backlash due its alarming battery depleting properties.

Some frustrated users, considering Threads as a direct rival to Twitter, have even resorted to uninstalling the app due to its impact on their device’s battery life. In addition to social media apps, streaming platforms like Spotify and Netflix, as well as the Amazon app, are also known for depleting phone batteries. Decluttr warns that the Uber app, similar to social media apps, drains battery life as it has access to location, microphone, media, and financial information.

Gaming apps like Candy Crush also significantly drain battery life due to their high processing power requirements and the extended periods users often spend playing them. Decluttr suggests several ways to reduce battery usage for these apps, such as disabling access to features like the camera and microphone. Additionally, adjusting location access settings to permit usage only when the app is active can help extend your smartphone’s battery life.

Disabling the Background App Refresh setting on your phone is another useful tip, as it prevents apps from checking for updates and new content when not in use. Meta’s new app, Threads, is integrated with Instagram, enabling users to follow accounts they are already interested in on the photo-sharing platform. Despite the millions of users who have quickly adopted Meta’s latest offering, many have voiced complaints about its impact on their device’s battery life.

One user tweeted, “‘Is Threads just… murderous to anyone else’s battery?'” These concerns highlight the importance of optimizing app usage and settings to minimize battery drain and ensure longer-lasting smartphone performance.
