The U.S. Has Developed The World’s First Forever-Chemical-Free Battery With 20% More Power

Ateios Systems, a pioneering US-based battery component manufacturer, has unveiled the world’s first perfluoroalkoxy-free (PFA) rechargeable lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) battery. This breakthrough, branded as RaiCore High-Voltage Lithium Cobalt Oxide (HV LCO) electrodes, marks a significant advancement in battery technology. The new electrodes boast an impressive 15-20% increase in energy density compared to standard LCOs and are entirely free from PFAs, commonly known as forever chemicals.

Ateios Systems credits its own RaiCure technology for this innovation. Rather than using the conventional thermal-curable polymers, this state-of-the-art technology uses an energy-curable, PFA-free polymer manufacturing approach. The end product is an excellent, high-energy-density electrode that not only improves battery performance but also lowers production costs and satisfies strict environmental regulations.

The practical applications of these PFA-free, rechargeable LCO batteries are vast, targeting a significant portion of the lithium-ion battery market that includes consumer electronics such as smartphones, wearables, power tools, and drones. The environmental benefits and enhanced performance of these batteries present a compelling eco-friendly alternative in the market.

In functional prototypes, Ateios’s RaiCore batteries demonstrated over 80% capacity retention after 1,000 cycles at 1C and 100% depth of discharge, according to a company press release. This performance metric underscores the potential for long-lasting, high-efficiency batteries in various applications.

“RaiCore offers the battery industry and its allied sectors a transformative, scalable solution addressing critical challenges in performance, supply chain, and regulatory compliance,” stated Rajan Kumar, CEO and Founder of Ateios Systems. To further validate and showcase its technology, Ateios has partnered with several device developers, including Softmatter, a softgoods technology company. Softmatter plans to integrate RaiCore into diverse form factors such as wristables and augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) devices.
